I met Sade in second year university and oh i never knew such voice existed on earth.But then,her voice is only a fraction of her admirable qualities. Her humility, despite her many talents,intelligence and beauty is simply charming. I thought it was a great honor to meet with her one on one but when she touched my hands with her soft palm and said ‘i like your voice,it has so much potential if you could work at it’.Eureka! that was all i needed to hear. Oh yes!,I must defeat my village people on this one.
So I was set in motion, no more cold drinks and fried foods,i just had to work at it.Even when people said my voice sounds like the croaking of a frog,i knew they were jealous.As for me, i must sing like Sade because with God all things are possible.So when I was appointed to lead praise and worship at a prayer meeting,i just knew it was the appointed time for the unveiling of my hidden talent.
Surprisingly however that time happened to be the last time hmmmn,my voice was probably too much for them to handle.
And then my course adviser asked to see me.’You had better stop playing politics with your academics if not you’ll be having an extra year in school’,he said.Wait a minute, what could the problem be?This result is just too poor to be called mine. No,that can’t be it but Sade gets high grades, why is my case so different?
Hello there, please before you get into a state of confusion as the character above. Before you plunge into making a major mistake in life. Please pause for a minute, it may save you a life time.
First to note is that when you waste your time,you have lost a part of your life that can never be regained.
Now,while I’m not encouraging you to give excuse for mediocrity I’m saying’be responsible for your self,don’t compare your self with someone else. Discover your uniqueness deliberately, embrace and leverage on it.In short,do what you love to do and love whatd you do?
